Q2. How to apply to Effat University?

Students wishing to apply to Effat University should submit a completed application form, signed by the guardian, with the following supporting documentation:

  • Original High School Transcripts
  • Photocopy of National ID or Iqama
  • Signed photocopy of guardian’s ID
  • Photocopy of passport if available
  • Standardized test scores

Ø  TWE: 5-6 (place at Effat) or,

Ø  Math placement Test (DTMS):

*College of engineering and College of Architecture and Design: 4 levels (DTMS).

Q3. How long will it take to finish my degree?

Depending on the major, students are expected to spend between 8 and 10 semesters (excluding summer semesters) in order to graduate. The number of credit hours for degree completion varies by major and ranges from 128-171 credit hours.
Students in need of English preparation may require one or two additional semesters prior to university entry depending on their level of English as assessed in the placement test.

Q4. What level of English is required to study at Effat University?

The medium of instruction at Effat University is English. A student needs a minimum score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 520 and a minimum score on the Test of Written English (TWE) of 5 to be admitted as a first year university student. Effat University offers institutional versions of all required placement exams.

Yes, all nationalities are welcome. On average, the student population at Effat University is comprised of approximately 88% Saudis and 12% other nationalities.

Q6. I graduated from non-Saudi high school. Will I be accepted?

Effat University accepts qualified high school graduates from a variety of backgrounds and school systems. Generally, students are required to have completed 12 years of basic education in a recognized school prior to applying.

Q7. Where can I get financial help and advice?

For assistance with university financial policies and services, students should contact the Finance Office located in the Administration Building.
Flexible installment payment plans are available for interested students, and new and continuing university students.

Q8. Are there Scholarships available?

A limited number of full and partial merit-based scholarship are available each semester. Academic scholarship competitions are held periodically, usually in early spring or early summer, to select recipients of available scholarships.
Interested students may obtain a scholarship application in the office of Admissions, located in Humanities Building on the Effat campus.

Q9. Is on-campus housing available?

On-campus house is available for interested students. The residence is designed for student comfort and convenience. Accommodation is available in both single and double rooms, each supplied with a private bathroom. There are also two laundry rooms available for students use.

Television access is provided in designated lounges, and a computer lab and Internet services are also available. Housekeeping service is provided, and a Residence Supervisor is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to attend to the concerns of student residents.

Accommodation fees vary according to room size and whether or not students choose to include dining services (3 meals per day). Fees range from SR 11000-180000 per semester.

Q10. Are transportation services available?

Transportation services to and from university are available based on home location and its proximity to the university and range from SR 2500-3500 per semester.

Q11. Rules for transfer students?

Effat University accepts transfers from other colleges and universities under the following conditions:

  1. The student should be enrolled at a recognized university or college by the Saudi Ministry of Higher Education.
  2. The student must not have been dismissed from that university for disciplinary reasons.

All transfer applications are submitted to the Admissions & Academic Standing Committee which studies the application and ensures that the applicant fulfills the following requirements:

  • Transfer applicants have to have completed at least one semester of a minimum of 12 credits or more in a recognized institution of higher education.
  • Transfer applicants should submit their transcript of record together with the syllabus and course descriptions for courses they seek to transfer.
  • Transferred Courses may be considered for transfer only if a grade of not less than C (70%) was obtained in the course.
  • The decision regarding which credits are awarded is made by the Admissions & Academic Standing Committee in consultation with the appropriate departments.
  • A maximum of all except 36 credit hours in each degree program will be accepted for transfer. Of those 36 credit hours, a minimum of 18 credit hours must be in the major.
  • Once accepted, the student has to fully withdraw from the previous college and has to submit the original High School Certificate to the Admissions office at Effat.
