السلام عليكم ورحمة الله
وبركاته
I am often asked, what made me me, which is a
strange peculiar question to be asked, in my opinion. But to answer that I would
say: I am shaped by four main things, a constant thrive to achieve, divorced
parents (and the whole experience of that process ), a husband that didn't place
me in a cage but let me fly instead, and a university that never stopped
believing in me. All of that in parallel to Allah that is always merciful,
giving, and mighty. الرحيم، الرزاق، القوي
I'll be graduating today after spending 8
years in my Bachelors degree. And that is because I used to major in clinical
pharmacy for four years in King Abdulaziz University, until I realized that that
is not what I was born to do. However, psychology and human behavior was more
alluring to me. So I came to Effat University, back then, Effat College. I came
and my first struggle was to seek and get sponsorhsip through metting different
businessmen, until I eventually got one. Then finally, I was a Effat student. A
place where I practice the science of mind and soul. I found myself here. I
found the key to go forward to other experiences that I am constantly thriving
for. To learn more, do more, give more. For My community, for my country, for my
Umah.
And here we are today.. Leaving our beloved
effat. We stand today At the verge of new and perhaps exciting experiences to
add to our making.
I have been in Effat for four
years.
Do you know when i truly began to be
appreciated by Effat and to be given my creative space here? Last year I was
pregnant, i lost the infant before it was born. This was a very awakening
experience for me. Once I got healthy again, I went to Dr. Kholod and said “I'm
ready! now bring it”.
A week later, my name was suggested to
represent Effat in a youth think-tank that served as the development of civil
society organizations in the country with Al-Aghar group. A month later, I was
electing myself for the next student government,
I was very scared, very hesitant. But I still
moved forward. I would go to Dr. Kholod everyday and say, what if I can't make
it? What if I don't win. A Few weeks later, I am the president of the next
student government, with a winning percentage of 46% of votes, against 4 other
competitors.
Dear Effat students,
Can you do it? Yes you can! Do you have the
resources for it? Yes you do! more than you know of!! What do you need? just
start, and don't wait for anyone to tell you how, or even when!
Standing here i wonder if you'll ever know how
blessed you are for being at this institution. Don't, Don't leave this place
until you made the most out of it. Don't allow yourself to come to the time when
u graduate and look back then say, I wish! Or if Only! no, Do it all, Do it all
now!!
As Micheal Uslan of Indiana University says,
“You must knock on doors until your knuckles bleed. Doors will slam in your
face. You must pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and knoch again. It's the
ONLY way to achieve your goals.”
This brings me to the people that I lived and
worked with the most for this past year, the Student Government team.

If not for you, after Allah, we wouldn't have
served Effat in the way it deserved to be served. We wouldn't have created this
mini-culture of competion & thrive to give. We wouldn't have been, according
to many, the Best SG team that Effat ever had. Alhmdellah I had you, Alhmdellah
we accomplished that together.
Ranad and Dr. Siddiga. Ranad my
co-researcher, and Dr. Siddiga our supervisor. The internship and graduation
research were one of the most educational experiences we ever had. I sure to
come back again to Effat, to give back more.
I'll be back to Effat, perhaps to teach the
next future generation of the institution that inspired me the most. Then, once
Dr. Haifa is ready, perhaps I'll be the president of Effat
University.
This way, I will be surving the community and
my country. Through Effat, I have always felt like a good citizen that cares for
the best of her society.
Effat hasn't only given us the tools for
life, but the aspiration to achieve.
Thank
You!
