Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, ruler of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Effat University was honored to receive the prestigious King Abdulaziz Quality Award on Tuesday, October 25th, 2016.

Effat University, the first non-profit university for females in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, won the prestigious King Abdulaziz Quality Award, which is one of the most renowned Saudi awards that celebrate institutions with exceptional levels of excellence for the quality of their work and products. Effat University won the award for the category of private higher education institutions in its third cycle for the academic year 2015-2016, along with other eight winners, out of a total of fifty applicants screened for all the main three categories of the award (i.e. Production and services, health and education sectors).

King Abdulaziz Quality Award, established and run by the Saudi Standard, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) since 1420 Hijri corresponding to 1999 G, is "a national award with international standards" held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, ruler of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The award aims to raise awareness of the importance of quality, efficiency, and productivity in the different sectors in Saudi Arabia, by recognizing model institutions that have achieved high levels of excellence. In the third cycle of the award run this year, the educational sector was added to the services, industry and health sectors. Hence, private higher education institutions like Effat University were invited to apply for the award for the first time.

To qualify for the award, Effat University, along with other applicants, went through a long process comprising of a number of steps including applying for eligibility, training, self-studying, reporting and collecting evidence as well as responding to reviewers' questions and inquiries as part of the site visit to the institution. Effat University was evaluated and benchmarked against other educational institutions in terms of eight quality standards that included administrative leadership, strategic planning, human resources management, management of suppliers and partners, operations management, relations with beneficiaries, social impact, and operations outcomes.

Effat University was celebrated among the other 8 winners (4 from industry, 3 from the health sector, and one representing private schools) in a grand ceremony held under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Haifa Jamal Allail, President of Effat University, expressed her pride of winning the award, saying: “It is an honor to win this unique award especially that Effat University is the only winning institution in the private higher education category.” She added, “This award is a sign of distinction which is the result of seventeen years’ worth of work, and it is a huge responsibility to maintain this level of excellence to serve our students and country”.
