Professor Sara Elzarka is a distinguished scholar and academic leader in supply chain management and logistics, with an extensive teaching, research, and leadership experience for more than 20 years across Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She currently serves as Professor of Supply Chain Management and Dean of the College of Business at Effat University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where she contributes to advancing business education, research excellence, and industry engagement in alignment with national development priorities.
Professor Elzarka earned her PhD in Supply Chain Management from University of Huddersfield (United Kingdom). She previously completed her undergraduate studies in International Transport and Logistics at Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria, Egypt.
Before joining Effat University, she held several academic and leadership positions at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Egypt, including Dean of the International Transport and Logistics Institute for postgraduate studies, Vice Dean for Educations' Affairs at the College of International Transport & Logistics in addition to the Head of the Logistics and Supply Chain Department. During this time, she played a key role in advancing logistics and supply chain education, curriculum development, and professional training programs in Egypt.
Professor Elzarka has also contributed to the transportation and logistics sector through industry engagement and governance roles. She served as a board member of Cairo Metro Company for Management and Operation, supporting initiatives related to public transportation management and operational development. In addition, she is a member of the International Supply Chain Education Alliance ISCEA – EMEA advisory board.
Her research focuses on sustainable supply chains, logistics management, supply chain resilience, and competencies in supply chains. She has published widely in international academic journals and conferences and has participated in research and consulting projects related to logistics and transport development across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Through her academic leadership, research, and industry collaborations, Professor Elzarka continues to contribute to the advancement of logistics education, supply chain innovation, and the preparation of future business leaders in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
