Mission StatementThe ILC fosters skills which contribute to students’ ability to increase their independence in learning and develop confidence toward their studies. Moreover, the ILC strives to help students develop an appreciation for education and the education process in an effort to become lifelong learners. The programs offered by the ILC contribute to the overall academic, professional, and personal growth of all students.AboutThe goals of the Independent Learning Center are to assist, encourage and develop students’ learning capabilities so they can reach their academic potential. The focus is on providing academic support services across disciplines to compliment subject-area study, enabling all students to develop important academic, life and career skills.Resources in the ILC include computers with internet access, specialized software, CD writers, scanners, printers, DVDs, videos, audio books, and listening stations. There are also extensive files containing materials in support of Effat University and Effat Academic Institute courses. The ILC provides activities and resources that promote self-help, equal access, peer role modeling, and personal growth. Staff
ServicesThe ILC promotes professional and personal growth through independent learning skills and strategies presented in workshops, provision of self study materials, monitoring and organization of peer study groups, a peer tutoring program and the use of technology as a learning tool, so that Effat College graduates become life long learners.Students are encouraged to regularly visit the ILC and utilize its services, particularly when they need to do any of the following:
