What is unique about the XIFM ?

  • The XIFM is the first degree in Islamic financial management worldwide.
  • It focuses on financial management and answers real needs apparent in the industry.
  • It is supervised by an International Advisory Board, consisting of prominent personalities from the fields of regulation, banking and academia. The XIFM was conceived with great care to address real-world issues and challenges.
  • It is the outcome of an innovative collaboration between the Ecole Supérieure des Affaires (ESA), a Middle East business school renowned for the training it offers in the principles of Islamic finance (The Bankers, 2007), and the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM), a business school ranked among the top 20 by the Wall Street International Ranking and internationally famous for the quality of its financial management programs.

Program outline

  • Language: English.
  • 15 master courses, 400 teaching hours.
  • Each master course is extended over a five-day period, from Sunday to Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm and Thursday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, once per month.
  • Teaching period: October 2009–December 2010 (summer break in July–August 2009).
  • Professional thesis (personal research or company project).
  • Courses delivered at the Effat University
  • Extra-curriculum activities: Lectures by leading personalities, networking, soft skills, career development, trading room sessions
  • Two study trips, one to  ESA Beirut and the other to RSM Rotterdam
