This page will serve as your one-stop guide to all of the technological services the University provides for students. Student WebmailEach current student and alumnae is provided with an Effat University web mail account (username@effat.edu.sa). This account can be accessed from anywhere in world provided that you have an Internet connection. Your web mail account also includes 4GB of storage, an electronic calendar, contacts, word processor, spread sheet creator, and presentation maker all within a customized easy to use interface. BlackboardBlackboard is a learning management system for faculty and students and can be accessed on and off campus. All students have access to Blackboard using their student id and password. If you are experience problems accessing your Blackboard account please contact IETS. Go to Effat University's Blackboard site. BANNERBanner is the Student Information system implemented by SCT BANNER Company. Admissions (Student), Finance, and Human Resources (HR) are completely dependant on Banner. These three categories are also referred to as modules. It is Effat's Centralized and secured database. Campus Computer LabsEffat University has a number of computer labs on campus. Several of the labs cater to the specific needs of certain departments, however most are open to students outside of class hours and there are also some labs available for general use.
Software ApplicationsWhile on campus students have access to a wide variety of software titles on computers located in labs and classrooms. Some of the software applications that are available for use:
Wireless CampusWireless Internet connection is available in the campus restaurant and in the residence halls. SupportIETS provides support for both instructional and administrative computing applications. Answers to your questions may be found by e-mail. Security / Anti VirusThe mission of the IETS Security and Policy group is to secure the computing infrastructure for the Effat community through the use of technology, policy, and best practices. Effat uses Norton Anti-Virus Corporate Edition to protect all campus PCs. All Effat Servers scan files on the servers continually. IETS highly recommends you to protect your home computer with a software package like Norton Antivirus. You may also scan your PC for virus at these websites. http://housecall.antivirus.com Policies and ProceduresGeneral Use and Misuse Information technology has become an essential part of academic and administrative life at Effat University. Each department should plan ahead and think of how technology can best be used to advance the University’s Strategic Plan. The challenge is to integrate and coordinate the efforts of all the departments to use technology effectively and efficiently to achieve their educational goals. IETS has responsibility for maintaining, configuring, networking, and managing all information technologies. Hardware, software, network, or security problems should be reported to IETS personnel as soon as possible. Only authorized personnel may configure, alter, or repair information technologies systems/equipment. To insure adequate network performance, network traffic will be monitored. IETS will take appropriate action if any computer on the network causes traffic problems, which interferes with the business of the University. IETS is responsible for securing its technological facilities to a reasonable and economically feasible degree against unauthorized access and/or abuse. This responsibility includes informing users of expected standards of conduct and the consequential measures for not adhering to them. IETS monitors the use of computers and will contact anyone discovered to be
hindering normal operations. It is not appropriate to use computer resources
in ways that are detrimental to the normal operation of the computer and its
users. Any attempt to violate the university’s provisions and policies, regardless of the success or failure of the attempt, will result in disciplinary action. Disciplinary actions may range from a reprimand to maximum penalties afforded under University policies. USE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES IS A PRIVILEGE WHICH MAY BE REVOKED AT ANY TIME BY:
