Inappropriate hair and clothing styles are not acceptable at all in Effat University. Dresses and skirts should cover the knee (sitting or standing). Skirt slits should be modest; open slits should be no higher than the top of the knee. Only short sleeves are deemed appropriate. Anything tight, scant, backless, see-through, low in the neckline or revealing the midriff (in any position) is immodest and unacceptable. Slips should be worn under thin material. Failure to abide by this important policy will result in probation and dismissal from University. No-Smoking Policy Effat University is a smoking-free campus. Smoking is completely prohibited at all times both indoors and outdoors. Failure to abide by this important policy will result in probation and dismissal from University. Smoking is a dangerous habit that leads to serious diseases including some that have destructive results on womanhood. Please seek Counseling Services on Campus to get help in that regard. Good Behavior and Decorum Disrespectful or insubordinate behavior directed towards faculty members or others, or the use of obscene, foul or abusive language will not be tolerated. The use by students or any other personnel of inappropriate software or internet locations is not allowed. Good taste and acceptance of appropriate moral values prevail here. Students shall not abuse, misuse or damage property of the University or the property of others. Theft of goods, materials, supplies, property, or equipment belonging to others will not be tolerated nor will vandalizing or tampering with a fire alarm, fire extinguisher or any other safety/fire equipment, material, etc. be permitted. Fighting, physical or verbal threats, acts of defiance directed toward faculty, staff, students or others will not be permitted. Students shall not, in the classroom or privately while at University, make comments which criticize personal or family values of others in matters relating to religion, race, politics, private morality or social class characteristics. Academic Dishonesty Cheating is an act of dishonesty, and faculty members and students must maintain trust and honesty to ensure and protect the integrity of grades. If any instance of dishonesty by a student in homework assignments or any other requirements of the course is discovered by an instructor, it is his or her responsibility to take appropriate action. Based on his or her judgment of each particular case, the instructor should, for instance, give a ‘zero’ grade for that particular assignment or homework. The instructor will notify the department chair about the incident in writing, who in turn will submit the case to the Deanship of Academic Affairs who presents it to the college council. After deliberating the case, the college council may approve the instructor’s decision(s), or else if further action is required refer it to the Academic Counseling Committee for review, and submit its recommendation to the President of the University based on the Student Disciplinary Rules. Students shall not engage in behavior that discriminates because of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, or age; nor will sexual harassment in any form, verbal or physical, be allowed. Students shall not engage in criminal, dishonest, immoral or disgraceful conduct that brings the University into disrepute. Continued and repetitive disregard for Islamic standards of behavior, directives of faculty and staff, or for University rules will not be tolerated. Violation of rules and regulations listed above will lead to disciplinary action that may include suspension from class or expulsion from University. Rules will be reasonable and fairly administered and thoroughly and carefully communicated to students, parents/guardians, faculty and staff. |
