Effat University Graduates the First Batch of Visual and Digital Production
Effat University celebrated the graduation of 14 students from the Visual & Digital Production department. These graduates are the first female holders of this Bachelor Degree in Saudi Arabia.
Under the patronage and presence of HRH Princess Lolowah AlFaisal, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees and General Supervisor of Effat University, and with the attendance of personalities from the community, media, and students’ families, Effat University celebrated graduating 347 students in a graduation ceremony on Thursday, 4th of May 2017, at Effat University’s Hall.
The ceremony started with the national anthem, and then then graduation march followed with a speech by Dr. Haifa Jamal Allail, president of Effat University, in which she said: “The number of our graduates has reached 1300. 58% of our graduates has received job opportunities nationally and internationally, and 11% are completing their postgraduate degrees”. And she added: “I would like to announce that Effat University has received the license from the Ministry of Education to offer our new program, Master of Science in Energy Engineering with its two tracks; Petroleum Engineering and Renewable Engineering, making Effat the first University to offer this major to Saudi Women, and the only University in the Kingdom to offer it as a post graduate degree.”
She also addressed a few words to the graduates, saying: “Our confidence in your ability to lead the businesses and serious projects, and the great role as active participants in building the nation and its service will be our support in achieving the scientific, economic and social civilization in the global competitive race”.
The celebration continued with the speech of the keynote speaker, Kent State University's president, Dr. Beverly Warren. President Warren is a member of the Board of Trustees for The Cleveland Orchestra and serves on the boards of directors for Team NEO, Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce, Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE) and Northeastern Educational Television of Ohio Inc. (NETO). A member of The 50 Club of Cleveland and the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Council of Presidents, she is an honorary director of the Board of Trustees for The Portage Foundation. She is an internationally respected and widely published scholar in the fields of education and exercise physiology. Her most recent research focused on urban education, including access and success for urban youth, the preparation of teachers for urban environments and coordination of education through P-20 initiatives.
After that came the speech of the graduates, which was presented by the student of the Master of Urban Design at Effat university; Reem Oudah, in which she said: “ Studying at Effat University has taught me that you may have a dream that you think is impossible to achieve, but with patience, passion and perseverance your dreams will surely come true”. She also added: “I can now look back and honestly say that I made the right decision to study at my second home, Effat University.”
The ceremony ended with honoring students by HRH Princess Luluwah Alfaisal and Dr. Haifa Jamal Allail.
