Dr Kathleen Guillaume now teaches Applied Linguistics courses full-time at Effat University. She previously served as Dean of Humanities & Social Sciences and, prior to Effat becoming a university, as Academic Vice Dean of Effat College.
Dr Guillaume’s career spans a total of 20 years in teaching & management in the Middle East and Africa (Sudan), with a further fifteen spent working in Europe (Scotland, France, Russia, Ukraine) and Australasia (New Zealand).
In addition to Applied Linguistics, Dr Guillaume has also taught translation and EU Law: the former at Université de Paris 8 and Université de Toulouse Le Mirail, and the latter at l’Institut de Sciences Politiques (“Sciences Po”), Toulouse.
To her courses, Dr Guillaume always brings the benefits and insights from real-world experience. She served for a total of fifteen years, in various parts of the world, as a translator and interpreter, her main languages being French and Italian. Translation and interpreting clients included the Institut du Monde Arabe, Flammarion, Desclée de Brouwer, as well as government agencies and embassies in various parts of the world.
