According to the International Energy Agency of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (IEA/OECD), ‘transport accounts for nearly one-quarter of global energy-related CO2 emissions.’ Effat University realizes that without strong global action to reduce CO2 emissions, other air pollutants and greenhouse gasses (GHGs), global warming and climate change will persist.

In its efforts to enable mobility without increasing CO2 emissions, or accelerating climate change, the University regulated its transportation services to limit daily trips to two per day. The University also divided neighborhoods into zones and cost regions, thereby limiting the number of University vehicles on the road.
