Dr. Ranya Salame

Over two decades of experience in Higher Education, Dr. Salameh is currently the Chair of the Department of English and Translation at Effat University.

She has previously held the positions of Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Associate Dean of the Doctoral College at the USEK – Lebanon, where she also led the translation and interpretation program.
As part of national and international engagements in higher education, she was, on multiple occasions, guest speaker and core member of seminars and workshops across Lebanon, Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia, Canada, UK, USA, France, Italy, Spain, Greece and China.
Her research interests are: Translation Studies, Social Representations, Cultural References and Intercultural Communication.
In 2013, she was awarded, by the French Government, the title of “Chevalier” (Knight) in the Order of Academic Palms, for her achievements in the academic and cultural fields.
In 2017, she was selected by the U.S. Department of State to take part in a selective Fulbright Scholar program hosted by New York University.

Avid for new cultures and learning, she has rich expertise in cross cultural communication, and she strongly believes that translation is the most powerful way to build bridges between people and nations.​
