The Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM) Department at Effat University is committed towards creating world class proficient leaders through data-driven learning experience, practice, and research to contribute to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia economic and community needs and challenges. When established, The OSCM program was the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and has continued to graduate students of high caliber who are well-recognized in the industry. Our faculty are highly reputed for their significant and impactful research and have worked closely with the industry to develop the curricula, provide solutions to businesses, and are integral towards ensuring all-rounded education to produce industry-ready graduates.
On the national front, Saudi Arabia is positioning itself to become a global logistics hub connecting three continents, in addition to upgrading all means of transportation, enhancing integration in the logistics system to support the comprehensive development process in Saudi Arabia. As such, Saudi Arabia is keen on professionals well-versed in supply chain management in its ambition to advance logistic services from 49th to 25th in the global Logistic Performance Index (LPI) ranking. In fact, under The National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), about 1,600,000 jobs are expected to be created by 2030. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia will invest over SAR 500 billion in airports, seaports, rail, and other infrastructure by 2030 to make the kingdom a global transportation and logistics hub. Also, Saudi Arabia aims to create 20,000 data analytics and experts by 2030. The travel and tourism industry currently accounting for 9% of GDP and is expected to grow at an accelerated rate thanks to $65 Billion earmarked for investment into the sector. Essentially, the OSCM program prepares its graduates for immediate employment by aligning its curricula with national needs and ensuring that students are well-versed with competencies such as project management, data-driven decision making and analysis, forecasting, quality assurance and control, transportation management, and logistics.
The Strategic Plan 2022 – 2027 is designed to push the boundaries of traditional classroom learning, and to provide a technology-driven curriculum that will equip students with knowledge and skills to lead digital transformation and innovation of this industry. With greater internationalization initiatives and with a supportive government collaboration, our program aims to cater to the national needs by producing highly skilled homegrown professionals in operations and supply-chain management, who are competent, technologically literate, and innovative. With the successful implementation of Strategic Plan 2022 – 2027, the OSCM Department aims to position itself as the academic leader of operations and supply chain management education in the region, reputed for its high-quality research, significant innovations and competent graduates who contribute to the industry and Saudi Arabia’s economic and community needs.
