ويتناول الكتاب المبادئ الأساسية للضبط الحراري داخل أبنية المدارس متخذاً حالة دراسية من مصر تمثل أكثر المناخات القاحلة في العالم ويقوم بتحليلها من حيث الأداء الحراري للمبنى وطريقة استجابة ساكنيه. كذلك يضرب أمثلة عديدة لحلول مختلفة لمسألة الراحة الحرارية للإنسان. كما يعرض الكتاب عدة سبل وأدوات لتحقيق الراحة الحرارية منها أنظمة المراقبة ، المحاكاة والقياس الموضوعي والهادف.
