Dr. Kathleen Guillaume

Dr Kathleen Guillaume holds a Joint Masters in French/International Relations from Aberdeen University and also a Degree in Teaching EFL and Modern Foreign Languages, from Edinburgh University, Scotland. She earned her PhD in Applied Linguistics from the Université de Paris ​​7 and, later, a Masters in EU Law from Leicester University. 

Dr Guillaume worked as a Translator & Interpreter in Scotland, France and New Zealand; served as an EU Law Consultant in France; and she has also taught Law, Linguistics & Languages in Sudan, France, Ukraine, Russia, and Saudi Arabia. 

While in Russia, she was invited to broadcast for Radio Moscow English language service ​and covered new trends in EFL teaching as well as culture and politics in Scotland, her homeland. While in France, Dr Guillaume did two-way interpreting on live radio and TV news shows, for TV5 Monde (public) and LCI 24-hour news (private). 

H​er latest interests are in the huge power and potential of Digital Media, through which she and her colleagues have been guiding and educating students, since Fall 2023. She is still interested in how people learn and in student motivation, especially as both these will be supercharged by digital media.​

​​Dr Guillaume now teaches on the new DMC, Digital Media & Communication program, which she co-wrote. A keen course developer, Dr Guillaume has also written a new Diploma in French, focused on understanding and speaking, with specialized French for fashion, tourism and hospitality, among others.​
