As a design educator and researcher, I believe in the transformative power of design to address complex societal challenges. My academic journey, encompassing diverse disciplines such as industrial design, product design, and cross-cultural semantics, has shaped a teaching philosophy rooted in innovation, inclusivity, and interdisciplinary exploration. At Effat University, I strive to inspire the next generation of designers to think critically, solve real-world problems, and create meaningful, human-centered solutions that resonate on both local and global scales.
Having more than 12 years of design teaching experience, Dr. Salman Asghar is currently serving an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design at Effat University, Jeddah, specializing in design innovation, sustainable practices, and interdisciplinary research. His academic work has resulted in over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and multiple conference papers, indexed in SCOPUS and Web of Science. With more than 7,540 reads, 250 citations, and an H-index of 08 (as of November 2024), Dr. Asghar's research has had a significant impact on the design community.
Dr. Asghar has presented at multiple national and international conferences and is an invited speaker on topics related to sustainable design, packaging design, human-centered design, and the integration of emerging technologies in design. His scholarly contributions continue to influence both theory and practice in the field.
Beyond research, Dr. Asghar is committed to mentoring more than 10 postgraduate students, fostering an environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving. He is dedicated to advancing design education and contributing to the growth of the design discipline at Effat University.
