Dr. Bayan Alshabani joined Effat University in 2016 as the Legal Affairs coordinator at the President Office. In addition to her admin duties, she is an Assistant Professor at Effat Business College, where she teaches Business Legal Environment.
Dr. Bayan has a bachelor degree in law from King Abdul Aziz University. After that, she joined King Abdullah Scholarship program to pursue her graduate studies in the United Kingdom. In 2011, she completed her LLM in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies from the Law school at the University of East London. Her master dissertation was on Human Rights from an Islamic Perspective.
In 2016, she obtained her PhD from the Law school at Warwick University. Her thesis was on the Misrepresentation of Jihad in Public and Academic Discourse and its Impact on the Integration of a Multi-faith Society
She participated in many international conferences on terrorism studies. Dr. Bayan was invited as a guest speaker at ConnectJustice 2015 (UK), to share her academic expertise with some stakeholders.
Dr. Bayan is mainly interested in terrorism studies and the role of public discourse in categorizing terrorism as an 'Islamic' crime.
